Diversify your Income
Convert biomass waste into Electricity and Heat.
Find out the advantages of combined heat and power generation from biomass. Our innovative solutions will make your business more efficient.
The use of combined heat and power (CHP) is a highly efficient method of energy production. This technology makes it possible to use energy as much as possible, avoiding the emission of heat into the atmosphere.
For more than 10 years, Pro-Energy has specialized in the full cycle of implementation of biomass projects. During this time, we have successfully implemented a number of biomass mini-CHP projects in Ukraine. Each of them began to work for the benefit of Ukrainian business.
A mini-CHP consists of a steam boiler and a turbine. The boiler produces steam that drives a turbine to generate electricity. And the waste thermal energy can be used for technological or economic needs.
This method provides an opportunity to effectively use the resource of woodworking waste, agrobiomass and solid household waste.

Biomass is a non-fossil, biodegradable substance of organic origin that is capable of biodegradation. This makes it an important resource for creating energy that can be recovered in natural processes. Biological waste is converted into heat and electricity when it passes through special facilities.
Biomass is a renewable energy source capable of producing both electricity and heat. When wood, straw, pellets, or agricultural waste are burned, thermal energy is generated, which can be used for heating residential buildings, greenhouses, farms, or industrial facilities.
The conversion efficiency reaches 80–90%, especially in modern biomass boilers. This approach allows companies to reduce gas costs, cut CO₂ emissions, and increase energy independence.
Heating with biomass is an alternative to traditional fuels (gas, coal, or fuel oil). Modern systems automatically feed the fuel and regulate the temperature, providing stable heat with minimal maintenance.
Bioheating is especially beneficial for agricultural enterprises that have their own plant waste. They can process it into fuel, thus creating a closed energy cycle.
A biomass boiler is an installation that produces heat by burning biofuel: pellets, wood chips, straw, or wood waste. Its operating principle is similar to that of a conventional gas boiler but uses solid renewable fuel.
Such boilers can be either manually or automatically loaded and can heat both private houses and large industrial facilities.
Biomass power plants are energy complexes that generate electricity by burning organic materials such as wood, straw, husks, or agricultural waste.
The heat produced during this process can also be used for heating — this system is called cogeneration. As a result, the overall efficiency reaches 85–90%.
Biomass power plants help communities and businesses ensure stable energy supply and reduce dependence on imported gas.
Mini combined heat and power (CHP) plants running on biomass are compact cogeneration units that simultaneously produce heat and electricity from solid fuel. They can operate on wood waste, agricultural raw materials, or pellets.
Such plants are an efficient solution for farms, greenhouse complexes, and municipalities. They provide autonomous energy supply, reduce energy costs, and help lower CO₂ emissions into the environment.
Simply put, biomass energy is thermal or electrical energy obtained from organic materials.
Its main advantage is renewability and climate neutrality: when biomass is burned, it releases the same amount of CO₂ that the plant absorbed during its growth. This makes bioenergy one of the cleanest ways to replace fossil fuels.
Energy from biomass is generated in several ways:
The resulting energy can be used for generating electricity, heat, or producing biomethane. It’s a closed-cycle process with no harmful emissions, supporting sustainable business development.
Biomass is one of the main renewable energy sources in Ukraine. It combines economic efficiency with environmental sustainability. The primary feedstocks include wood waste, straw, corn silage, beet pulp, and manure.
Using biomass allows farmers to reduce fuel costs, optimize waste utilization, and create additional income sources by turning waste into a valuable resource.
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
However, in most cases, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, as bioenergy is a pathway to sustainable and profitable production.
Biomass includes all types of organic materials suitable for energy production:
These resources are widely available in Ukraine, making biomass a foundation for energy independence for farmers, communities, and industrial enterprises.
Electricity and heat from biologically renewable raw materials (biomass).
A wide range of biomass as a fuel:
Using biomass as a natural fuel for Biomass CHP, you can:
The tariff for electricity produced from biomass by generating units with a capacity not exceeding 150 kW is 499.10 kopecks/kWh (excluding VAT). You can check the current data on the NEURC website.
The auction system is an opportunity for bioenergy project owners to receive a fixed electricity tariff from the state for 20 years. Based on the results of the auction, a certain volume (W) and a certain price (eurocents/kWh) are set for the state to purchase your energy. The latest information on the law on the restoration and green transformation of Ukraine’s energy system can be found on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
