The customer's enterprise has boiler houses that produce and supply heat to administrative and residential buildings in the city. In order to ensure the uninterrupted process of district heating, electricity is needed. Grid-only power supply makes the company extremely vulnerable to emergency power outages.

Therefore, the client turned to us with the need to decentralize its own facilities: to gain independence from centralized power supply from external networks and to additionally strengthen its heat generation capacity. We offered an effective solution, which was implemented.

Solution

Since the client already had a natural gas connection, a highly efficient cogeneration system was a good solution.

The cogeneration unit fully meets the company's main requirement for energy autonomy and has an additional advantage. The cogeneration unit generates a by-product in the form of heat energy during the production of electricity. So our customer can use this heat for district heating. Of course, it is impossible to cover the needs of the entire city with a cogeneration unit alone. But it guarantees a reliable power supply to the district boiler house, which is the source of heat for the entire district. Also, thanks to highly efficient cogeneration, less natural gas is used to heat water to the temperature at which it is supplied to the heating networks.

In general, this approach ensured the client's production independence from the electricity supply and helped to save money for the community. The cost of electricity produced by the cogeneration unit is lower than that of electricity purchased from the grid.

Conclusion

With the launch of the cogeneration unit, we have fully ensured the client's own electricity production and partially increased the heat generation capacity. The company gained the opportunity for decentralization. The boiler houses are powered by their own electricity, which means that no power outages will affect their operation.

Heat will be continuously supplied to the district's municipal buildings.
