Request

The project has been implemented using the Agenitor 408 BG (2G) cogeneration plant, which enables the efficient use of biogas for the simultaneous production of electricity and heat.

The key change is the reallocation of biogas: whereas it was previously used partly for heating via boilers, it is now used to generate electricity, with heat produced as a by-product.

This made it possible to:

• replace grid electricity with in-house generation;
• use the heat to warm the fermenters;
• improve biomethane production figures.

Following the commissioning of the combined heat and power plant, the company was able to operate in island mode, ensuring the continuity and stability of production even during power cuts.

The first few days of operation confirmed the effectiveness of the solution: during the power cuts, the plant continued to operate smoothly thanks to its own power generation.

Conclusion

As a result of installing a combined heat and power plant, the company was able to:

replace up to 2.6 million kWh of electricity per year;
cut down electricity costs;
reduce CO₂ emissions by more than 1,000 tonnes per year;
to ensure the smooth running of production even in the event of power cuts.

This case study demonstrates how the proper integration of cogeneration into bioenergy projects makes it possible not only to reduce costs but also to improve the efficiency of the entire production process.
