Cogeneration units from Pro-Energy: the best solution for business during the war

In times of war, Ukraine’s energy system is in a critical situation. For many entrepreneurs, ensuring a stable energy supply is becoming an asterisked task. In such a situation, cogeneration units, which simultaneously produce electricity and heat, become a secret trump card for energy independence and cost reduction.

How do cogeneration plants work?

Cogeneration is a combined process of producing electricity and heat from a single fuel source. The plants can use natural gas, biogas, propane, hydrogen, etc. The main advantage of such systems is their high efficiency. For example, they not only generate electricity but also effectively utilize heat that is usually lost in traditional generators.

Modular cogeneration units are available in a wide range of capacities from 20 to 2500 kW. This allows them to be used in projects of various sizes:

  • mini-hotels or small office centers;
  • large manufacturing plants;
  • greenhouse complexes and agricultural enterprises.

For companies that need cooling, a trigeneration function is available when one unit provides electricity, heat and cold.

Advantages of cogeneration in times of war

1. Flexible operation and autonomy

Cogeneration units allow enterprises to operate in both constant consumption and variable load modes. That is, regardless of the general power grid, which is important during blackouts and emergency power outages.

2. Economic efficiency

Higher fuel efficiency and the possibility of price fixing (e.g., purchasing gas in the summer) reduce costs. The plants can also produce excess energy for sale to the grid.

3. Fast installation

Thanks to their modular design, cogeneration systems can be installed in 1-2 weeks. For comparison, the construction of a power plant can take months.

4. Mobility

The units are placed in containers, which simplifies their transportation. This is useful for companies that may have to relocate due to hostilities. Such mobility adds liquidity to the installations — they can be sold or reused.

5. Independence on weather conditions

Unlike solar or wind power plants, cogeneration machines operate in any weather, including in winter, when energy consumption increases.
